We had a fantastic few days running the PADI Open Water Diver Course at ScubaTech Destin this June. Anoosha and their crew of 12 others joined us for an intensive but rewarding journey into the underwater world. We kicked things off with two days of pool training, getting everyone comfortable with the gear and basic skills.

On day three, we headed out for the first open water dives. The weather wasn't playing nice, with cloudy skies, but that didn't dampen our spirits one bit. We focused on drift diving techniques, letting the currents do some of the work while we practiced buoyancy control. The water conditions were great, making it easier for everyone to concentrate on their skills. We even threw in some wreck diving basics, giving the group a taste of what's to come in their future diving adventures.

Saturday was our final day, with two more open water dives to round out the course. The late morning start gave us time to review, and despite some afternoon rain, we had a blast. We introduced the basics of spearfishing, though of course, as new divers, it was just to get a feel for it. Throughout the course, it was awesome to see everyone's confidence grow underwater. By the last dive, the transformation from nervous beginners to certified divers was clear.
