Big Fishing Drive: Your Ultimate Offshore Adventure

Get ready for an action-packed day on the water with ScubaTech Destin's Big Fishing Drive. This offshore experience is perfect for anglers looking to land some serious catches and make unforgettable memories. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a first-timer, our experienced crew will make sure you have a blast reeling in the big ones.

Trip Overview

Our Big Fishing Drive takes you out to the rich fishing grounds offshore, where the real monsters lurk. You and one lucky fishing buddy will hop aboard our well-equipped vessel for a full day of angling excitement. We've got all the gear you need, so just bring your enthusiasm and a good hat. The trip includes a tasty lunch to keep you fueled up for battling those trophy fish. Our seasoned captain knows all the hotspots, so you're in for some world-class fishing action.

What to Expect on the Water

Once we hit the offshore waters, it's game on. We'll be using a mix of techniques to target different species throughout the day. Expect to do some trolling for pelagics, bottom fishing for grouper and snapper, and maybe even some kite fishing if conditions are right. Our crew will show you the ropes if you're new to these methods. The Gulf can get a bit choppy out there, so come prepared with some sea legs and maybe some motion sickness meds if you're prone to it. Trust me, the potential catches are worth it!

Top Catches This Season

Offshore fishing in this area is a year-round affair, but each season brings its own stars. In the warmer months, we're talking mahi-mahi, wahoo, and the occasional billfish. As the water cools, we see more tuna and amberjack. Bottom fishing can yield some monster grouper and snapper pretty much any time of year. Keep in mind, fishing regulations can change, so we always fish by the book to keep our waters stocked for future generations.

Why Anglers Keep Coming Back

There's something addictive about offshore fishing that keeps folks coming back for more. Maybe it's the thrill of battling a big fish in open water, or the camaraderie that builds when you're out there all day with your fishing buddy and our crew. Whatever it is, our Big Fishing Drive has become a customer favorite. The chance to hook into something truly massive, combined with the peace of being out on the big blue, makes for an experience you can't get anywhere else.

Species You'll Want to Hook

While we can't guarantee specific catches (that's fishing for ya), here are some of the prized species you might encounter on our Big Fishing Drive:

Mahi-Mahi (Dorado): These colorful acrobats are a blast to catch and delicious to eat. Known for their spectacular aerial displays when hooked, mahi-mahi can give you a real fight. They're usually found near floating debris or weed lines, and we often spot them by looking for birds diving into the water. Peak season is typically late spring through summer.

Yellowfin Tuna: Hard-fighting and tasty, yellowfin tuna are a prized catch for any offshore angler. These powerful fish can grow to over 200 pounds, though most we catch are in the 30-100 pound range. They're often found in schools, so when we hit them, the action can be non-stop. Fall and winter are usually the best times for tuna, but we can find them year-round.

Red Snapper: A Gulf of Mexico favorite, red snapper are known for their firm, white flesh and strong pulls. We target these guys over reefs and wrecks, typically in depths of 60-250 feet. They can grow up to 40 pounds, but even the smaller ones put up a good fight. The season for red snapper is strictly regulated, so we'll let you know if they're fair game during your trip.

Grouper: Several species of grouper call these waters home, including gag, red, and black grouper. These bottom-dwellers are ambush predators with serious strength – when you hook one, be ready for a battle as they try to dive back into their rocky lairs. Grouper fishing is good year-round, but some of the biggest ones are caught in cooler months.

Wahoo: Speed demons of the sea, wahoo are one of the fastest fish in the ocean. They're known for blistering runs that can smoke a reel if you're not careful. We often target them by trolling at high speeds with specialized lures. While they can be caught year-round, fall and winter tend to be the peak seasons for wahoo.

Time to Book Your Spot
